We recently advised PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk (KRAS) on the strategic divestment of its shareholding in PT Krakatau Osaka Steel (KOS) to Osaka Steel Co., Ltd. (OSC), a company incorporated under the laws of Japan. KOS is a Cilegon-based steel manufacturer originally established as a joint venture between KRAS and OSC to serve the Indonesian domestic market.
This transaction represents a significant milestone in KRAS’s portfolio optimisation and corporate restructuring programme, allowing KRAS to streamline its business portfolio, improve the allocation of its financial resources, and reinforce its focus on its core business activities.
